Horse Wisdom Program®

The Horse Wisdom Program® is a group equine assisted learning (EAL) program that provides participants with psycho-education and experiential learning opportunities based on horse behaviour, expression, and instinctual knowing.

Topics include:

  • Regulation and grounding in nature

  • Present moment self awareness

  • Safe spatial, touch and verbal boundaries

  • Healthy relationships

  • Helpful thoughts and thinking

  • Feelings as information

  • Building self worth

  • Facing life’s challenges

The program includes a variety of interactions with horses, such as meeting at liberty (un-haltered), observing the herd, touching, grooming and leading the horse, and creative experiential exercises like building an obstacle course to represent and emotional state.

Benefits for participants may include awareness of the dysregulated state plus strategies and resources to support regulation, heightened empathy and improved relationship skills, the opportunity to experience a "safe" relationship, and an increase in self-confidence. Of course, we also aim for participants to have an interactive and enjoyable experience.
