At Edenhope, we tailor our counselling and psychotherapy services to suit your individual needs, experiences and therapy goals with the aim of fostering emotional safety, cultivating resilience and empowering self-directed growth.

We believe that given the right conditions, we all have the capacity for our inner knowing to emerge and guide change. Thus our imperative as therapists is to hear without judgement, to listen with empathy and to resource without imposing direction.

As we are all unique beings, how we approach therapy depends on each individual client and the style of therapeutic approach that resonates best with you. We may utilise some of the more well known evidence based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and we may also incorporate others such as Gestalt Therapy, Focusing Oriented Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Emotional Focussed Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and more.

What is counselling?

Counselling, often known as 'talk therapy,' involves discussing the issues or problems the client is experiencing to explore new ways of relating to or resolving the concern typically , while providing a supportive and non-judgmental space for clients to gain insights, develop coping strategies, and work towards positive changes in their lives.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a branch of psychology that focuses on uncovering core beliefs, attitudes, patterns of thinking and behaviours that may hinder our well-being or relationships. Its aim is to draw awareness to and gain a deeper understanding of oneself, ultimately addressing or adjusting underlying patterns or beliefs that contribute to persisting problems, and offering greater choice in how we relate with ourselves and the world around us.

What is psychology?

Psychology is a comprehensive discipline that explores different facets of human behaviour, cognition, emotions, and mental processes, enabling the evaluation and management of mental health conditions. Psychologists may work as consultants or undertake research, conduct assessments, offer counselling and psychotherapy, or train others.

A 60-minute session may involve talk therapy while either seated or walking, guided present moment awareness practice, and support for self-regulation. If interested, you can inquire about a 90-minute session that may include a guided nature walk, mindfulness art, or time for personal reflection and journaling.
